Welcome to our special patient newsletter.
We have some very important information for you in this issue. Pass it to your
friends and relatives. You never know what little thing you say or do
will make a big improvement in their lives.

First, a little story:
Red Light, Green Light
A driving instructor was with a new student driver.
He asked, "There's a red light, what do you do?"
"I must stop," said the student.
"Good."
"Now the light has just turned green. What's the rule of the road?"
"I must go."
The instructor was not amused. "Not so. A green light says that you
'may' go, not that you 'must' go. If there's someone in the middle of the
street a green light doesn't give you permission to run over them!"
It's the same with spinal checkups. A subluxation
in your body (a mis-aligned spinal bone [vertebra] that irritates your nerves)
acts like a "red light." It saps
your energy and creates overall body malfunction (dis-ease) that can lower
your resistance, cloud your thinking, stress your mind and prevent you from
functioning at your physical and emotional best.
Checkups to correct your subluxations in
your body give a "green light"
in the sense that energy can now flow through the body and mind without
interruption: thus the body and mind are able to function better.
There are many studies that show that chiropractic improves emotional health,
lowers stress and lets you enjoy life more. But remember, green only
means you "may" go. When you leave my office you'll have more
"green lights" before you - but it is up to you to use your growing
sensitivity and energy to heal, create a better life for you and your loved
ones, and spread success, love, and happiness wherever you go.
To put the
world right in order, we must first put the nation in order;
to put the nation in order, we must first put the family in order;
to put the family in order, we must first cultivate our personal life;
to cultivate our personal life, we must first set our hearts right.
- Confucius
Life is not easy for any of us. But what of that? We must have perseverance and
above all confidence in ourselves. We must believe that we are gifted for
something and that this thing must be attained. - Marie Curie
It's Flu Shot Season
Should
you get a flu shot?
Think twice. According to Hugh Fudenberg,
MD, the world's leading immunogeneticist and 13th most quoted biologist of our
time (over 850 papers in peer review biomedical journals), if an
individual has had five consecutive flu shots between 1970 and 1980 (the years
studied) his/her chances of getting Alzheimer's Disease is ten times higher than
if they had one, two or no shots. (1) Dr. Fudenberg reported that the reason why
this was so was due to the mercury found in every flu shot The gradual mercury
buildup in the brain causes cognitive dysfunction. Mercury is found in many
childhood shots also.
Is that why Alzheimer's is expected to quadruple in the near future? Is this
something you want in your body? (2)
Speaking of the flu…..Aspirin Or
Acetaminophen May Prolong The Flu
Researchers from the University of
Maryland studied 120 volunteers who had experimentally induced flu infection.
They found that the duration of the illness was longer if the volunteers' fever
was reduced with aspirin or acetaminophen (tylenol). Those patients stayed sick
on average 3 ˝ days longer than those not given the drugs to lower fever. Why? Fever
is an important mechanism by which your body fights infection. By interfering
with "mother nature" and artificially lowering fever, we are
preventing our "inner doctor" from functioning to heal us. (3)
Want To Know More About Childhood Vaccination?
For more information on vaccination issues, the National Vaccine Information Center maintains an informative website at http://www.909shot.com or they can be reached at 512 W. Maple Avenue, #206, Vienna, VA 22180. Their phone number is 1-800-909-SHOT (7468). Another good vaccine information site is the CHF - Citizens for Healthcare Freedom. Also a good vaccination issues Q&A site can be found at http://www.nccn.net/~wwithin/vaccine.htm .
Asthma, Lung Conditions and Chiropractic
Anyone
suffering from asthma, bronchitis, emphysema or other chronic lung conditions
needs to ensure their lungs and bronchi are receiving uninterrupted nerve
communication from their spines. Chiropractic is dedicated to correcting spinal
subluxations so that the nerves to the lungs (and other body parts) are able to
send their life giving commands and are not interfered with. This may help avoid
a lifetime of taking drugs.
Typical of chiropractic clinical studies is that of a 6-year-old boy who had
asthma since age 3 and was using inhalers (Beclovert and Vertolin) up to three
times a day. He received chiropractic care to his cervical (neck), thoracic (mid
back) and lumbar (lower back) areas. He made significant progress almost
immediately. He was finally able to run during soccer games and began to sleep
more soundly. After a short time he hardly ever had bouts with mucous clogged
nasal passages and his inhalant use stopped. (4)
Another case history is that of a 34-month-old
boy with asthma and enuresis (bed-wetting) who had not responded to medical
care. More than 20 emergency hospital visits had taken place for the asthma
attacks during a 12 month history. Three chiropractic adjustments were
administered over an 11 day period and the asthma symptoms and enuresis ceased
for more than 8 weeks. The asthma and enuresis reoccurred following a minor fall
from a step ladder but disappeared after adjustments. After a two year follow-up
the mother reported no recurrence of the asthma or the enuresis. (5)
In other studies (of adults with breathing disorders) lung volume was found
greater after chiropractic adjustments. (6) As one famous researcher wrote:
"In asthma the mechanical factor (spinal subluxation) may be so important
that until the mechanics are put right the symptoms will persist."(7) One
later study of 185 men and 87 women showed that spinal care improved respiratory
function(8) and in another study of patients with chronic pulmonary disease, a
classification that includes those with bronchitis and emphysema, over 90%
reported improvement of symptoms after spinal care.(9) In another study
researchers found spinal adjustments to give superior respiratory function and
chest mobility when compared to conventional medical bronchodilators,
expectorants and corticosteroids.(10)
Are You Aging Successfully?
Nearly 400 older men and women age
65-95 were followed for 16 years to see if they were successfully aging? What is
successful aging? It was defined as having little or no difficulty with daily
physical activities such as bathing, eating, dressing, shopping, cooking, doing
housework, walking a flight of steps or half a mile, lifting or carrying 10
pounds, writing or handling small objects. At the beginning of the study in
1974, nearly 60% of those surveyed scored as successfully aging. By 1990, 16
years later, only 35% still qualified. What predicted successful aging?
· Income: Those with income above the lowest quarter of the group were
nearly twice as likely to age successfully.
· Education: Those with 12 or more years of education also did better.
· Chronic disease: Those without diabetes, chronic lung disease,
arthritis, or hearing problems fared better.
· Depression: The absence of depressed feelings made successful aging
twice as likely.
· Personal contacts: Those reporting five or more close personal
contacts nearly doubled the rates of successful aging.
· Exercise: Seniors reporting that they walked often for exercise were
nearly twice as likely to enjoy healthy aging.
Those who were not depressed, had close personal contacts and walked often, tripled their chances of healthy aging. (11)

Chiropractic and Spinal Research
Did you know there are thousands of papers on the wonders of chiropractic and spinal care in health and disease? Anyone who has any kind of health problem needs chiropractic care. Is there any disease or condition you'd like to know about? Ask us.
Just some examples of typical cases are:
Remember,
health is a family affair. Coming to our office to have your spinal subluxations
corrected alone means the little ghosts and goblins in your family remain at
home! BOO - bring them. They want to stay healthy too!
